The car that James Bond is most associated with is the Aston Martin DB5, although in fact that particular model has appeared in only a few of the 007 movies. Probably the fact that it appeared first in Goldfinger, one of the most iconic James Bond films, means the car is indelibly marked on the collective memory of the western world.
The car that appeared in Goldfinger had an ejector seat, machine guns and a variety of other optional extras fitted by Q- Branch. While the car has sometimes featured gadgets since then, that isn’t always the case.
However, the DB5 will be returning in the next James Bond film, which is called Skyfall and currently shooting in the United Kingdom and Turkey. The latest Skyfall news indicates that James Bond’s ancestral home, called “Skyfall Lodge”, will be destroyed by fire and that his DB5 may also be sacrificed.
Then again, we have several months to go until the film is released to the public, and so these rumours may just turn out to have little basis in fact. In addition to the DB5, the other cars that have been seen on set include a couple of models of Range Rover and a Jaguar.
Skyfall will be released in the UK in October and US in early November.
